This time you’ll see how I animate a 3D countdown screen in After Effects. I hope you’ll learn something new! Thanks for watching.

0:00 — Final Result
0:15 — Creating the composition
0:29 — Creating the black background
0:55 — Using the Text Tool to prepare numbers for animation
1:44 — Using the Pan Behind Tool to move the Anchor Point of the text
2:24 — Creating a new Camera to establish a 3D scene
2:45 — Animating the Position of the text field
3:47 — Increasing “Samples per frame” to make a smoother motion blur effect
4:04 — Now we animate the number’s “exit” using Opacity
4:36 — Multiplying the animated text to create “2”, “1” and “GO!”
6:10 — Let’s review what we have so far
6:43 — Creating a timer wheel in the background — First, the static base
7:42 — Duplicate it to create the dynamic part that will be running out
8:01 — Adding Trim Path to create the “running out” effect
8:31 — Now, I need to reverse the direction of the effect
8:51 — This is what we have at this point
9:18 — Adjusting line thickness
9:47 — First and final frame need to be identical for this to loop — making sure the first frame is empty (black)
10:35 — Creating the final “zoom-in” effect using Camera Position
11:03 — Adjusting composition length (CMD + Shift + X)
11:26 — See how nicely it loops together?
11:38 — Changing composition length again (need a bigger pause at the end)
12:04 — FINAL RESULT

Cheers,
Mavi
