In this tutorial, you will learn how to disable auto lock in Windows 7. Auto Lock makes your computer automatically go to the account login screen after returning from sleep mode, and requiring you to enter your password if you have one. Removing this allows for quicker access to your PC, but less security.
Step # 1 -- Changing the Setting
Open up control panel from your start menu, click "System and Security" then click on "Power Options", and then click "Require a password on wakeup". You may need to click the User Account Control that says "Change settings that are currently available", then under "Password protection on wakeup" click "Don't require a password", now click "Save changes" and close the window.
Step # 2 -- Testing the setting
To test the setting, simply put your computer into sleep mode, and then try waking it up by pressing on the keyboard. If the change has worked then you will not be asked for a password. That's all, you now know how to easily disable auto lock in Windows 7. Do remember that if you want to increase the security on your computer you should switch this back on in the same way.
