In this tutorial you will learn how to create a pareto chart in Excel.
A pareto chart is a bar graph superimposed with a line graph called the Pareto Line. The line represents the cumulative total. As the bar graph descends, the line graph ascends because it cumulates after each bar.
If you have a project or presentation that needs a pareto chart, Excel has is built-in as a chart style for you to easily use.
We will go through the steps to create a Pareto chart in Excel.
Select your range of data.
Go under the Insert tab and click the Statistics chart drop-down (an icon that looks like a bar graph).
Click the Pareto chart to insert the graph.
Edit the chart as you would any other.
Since the Pareto chart is a built-in chart style in Excel, it makes it easy to create.
