In this tutorial, you will learn How to Compress Video in VLC without Losing Quality.

VLC is a free application for watching videos, that offers a converter tool to reencode videos.

Install VLC and launch it. Go to Files - Convert/Stream. Click Open Media and select a video file. Below you can choose a preset. We’ll choose h.264 + MP3. Click customize and go to video codec page. Here the bitrate is the single most important setting. We’ll leave everything at 0. Let’s change the bitrate to somewhere between 1500kbps or 3000kbps. Depending on how it all renders out, we might need to raise the number up a bit. We don’t recommend going lower than 1500kbps however.

Click Save Profile and then below click Save as File. Click browse and type a name for the file as well as choose the destination folder.

Click Save. That’s it, you’ll see the player head move which signifies the process of the rendering. The file will be in the destination folder.
