In this video, we’re taking a look at five solid time tracking apps that are available in 2020. This video is very timely given how many companies have shifted over to remote work this year. Most of these companies are expected to remain remote through the rest of the year, with some even offering the option of remote work to their employees indefinitely.
As always you’ll find a more in-depth list back on our blog so feel free to check that out.
The Best Time Tracking Apps of 2020 - https://blog.hubstaff.com/best-time-tracking-apps/
#1 - Hubstaff
The first app on our list is Hubstaff, which is available on a wide range of platforms. Hubstaff’s apps run on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, and Chromebook. Hubstaff provides proof of work features, time tracking, automated payroll and so much more. It also offers a wide variety of third-party integrations, which means it’s easy for Hubstaff to fit into your existing workflow.
You’ll also have access to geofenced time tracking, which allows you to create custom job sites and start or stop time tracking automatically (or send reminders) as someone enters or leaves that location.
#2 - HoursTracker
HoursTracker is a mobile-only option but it does pack some good features into its app. Most notably, automated time tracking, location tracking, and flexible export options for reports. HoursTracker also gives you the option to send out reminders to clock in if you would prefer that over automated time tracking.
#3 - Tracking Time
Tracking Time has a very modern and clean interface that is consistent across desktop and mobile. It's very easy to jump in and start using it right away. However, because it’s so minimal and easy to use, it does lack some of the more robust features you would find on other apps mentioned in the video.
One small bonus feature that I feel is worth mentioning is that this app supports dark mode on mobile, which is a nice little addition and something I personally am a fan of using whenever available.
#4 - Timely
Timely is another easy to use the app with a modern interface and some good reporting capabilities. If you’re looking for an all-in-one option though this app might fall just a little short. Things like invoicing, automated payroll, and location tracking aren’t available with this app. Maybe this isn’t necessarily a big deal if you already have third-party apps you aren’t planning on abandoning for an all-in-one solution yet, but it’s something to think about.
#5 - Hours
The final app on the list is Hours, which is a macOS- and iOS-only solution. If you’re a Windows user you are out of luck here. If you prefer to work solely in the world of Mac though this is a really great option to consider. Like other options on this list, it can’t quite function as an all-in-one solution but for time tracking specifically, it’s very simple and straightforward and a great option for small to medium-size teams.
