During these 30 days we will work through various styles of yoga incorporating dynamic, active, and passive stretching to help increase flexibility while balancing the body with strength, mobility and working with the breath to help create that much needed space we all long for.
In these routines, we will be using props like pillows, blocks or stacked books along with a strap or anything that mimics a strap so be sure to have these things on hand before class.
Each class will focus on a different body part or pose. We will work on things like sitting cross legged and finding what feels good for our bodies by utilizing props and modifying where and when needed. We will also be working on alignment as it is important that we don't compensate in certain stretches and poses so that we can fully benefit from the practice.
Why is flexibility important?
With all things, we must keep balance in our lives and that includes our physical body. Through our daily activities we tend to build up physical and emotional stress along with aches and tension within our body in turn effecting out posture, range of motion, and increasing chance of injury.
As with all yoga, It is so very important that you listen to the body and never exceed your edge, the sensation of just a stretch. When we take our time instead of forcing, we grow in our practice much quicker and safer.
I recommend that you do things like taking warm baths and foam rolling to help you feel your best throughout the 30 days, and any day really if you are doing a lot of physical activities. These simple self care tips truly make you feel like a million bucks as your body journeys through a transformation.
