T-tube nursing care review about the nurse's role regarding the care of the biliary drain.

A t-tube is placed in the common bile duct to help drain bile from the liver.

It is sometimes placed after a cholecystectomy, common bile duct (CBD) exploration, or liver transplant.

It will serve as a drain to drain excessive bile from the liver until the common bile duct is healed.

It can also be used for testing where dye is injected into the t-tube and an x-ray is taken (cholangiogram) to assess the biliary tree and duct (see the picture in the video to see this example).

Nursing care for the t-tube includes (please see the video for this detail explanation and the mnemonic to help you remember those important concepts for exams.
