Pupil light reflex assessment: when exposed to light, the pupils should react by constricting. This action should be consensual, meaning when one pupil constricts, the other pupil constricts.

If the pupils fail to react, or if the reaction is not consensual (occurring on both sides), it could indicate damage to cranial nerves II or III, or damage to other parts of the brain, among other things.
