In this tutorial, I show you how to create a colorful overlapping text effect in Photoshop, with colors that blend together where the letters overlap!

We start by creating the effect on a white background, but you'll also learn the trick to using any background color you like!

To create the effect, we'll add our text, convert the text into shapes, and then split the text into layers so that each letter is on its own Shape layer. We'll change the color of each letter and use a Gradient Overlay layer style to enhance the colors even more. We'll move the letters together so they overlap, and we'll use one of Photoshop's layer blend modes to blend the colors in the overlapping areas together!

At the end of the tutorial, I show you the trick you need to know to change the background color of the effect without losing the original colors of the text, including how to quickly switch between background colors using a Solid Color fill layer!
