Attitudes are positive or negative evaluations of people, things, and situations. They are judgments and are based on perceptions. Our internal OB foundations of our thoughts, self-esteem, personality, and perception all affect our attitudes and behavior.

Attitudes often affect behavior. People with opposite attitudes toward a person, job, course, event, or situation often behave differently. People’s attitudes toward you may affect your behavior. Job satisfaction is a person’s attitude toward the job. There is support for the idea of a positive relationship between job satisfaction and citizenship behavior.

Job satisfaction is generally measured along a continuum from satisfied/positive/high to dissatisfied/negative/low. You can have an overall high level of job satisfaction and not like some aspects of your job; this is common. Oftentimes, it’s the small hassles that throw us off and cause us to develop negative attitudes. So don’t focus on the negative part of your job. Focus on the positive, optimistic side of what you like about your job to maintain satisfaction.
