We all have the same 24 hours a day—so its all about how to use your time to manage important activities. Make a plan, and be sure to include prioritized objectives and schedule time to complete them. The four major parts to the time management system are priorities, objectives, plans, and schedules.
Time management techniques all boil down to making a plan and sticking to it as much as possible. The time management steps are as follows: (1) plan each week, (2) schedule each week, and (3) schedule each day.
Schedule your high-priority items during your prime time. Prime time is the period of time when you perform at your best. For most people this time is early in the morning. Determine your prime time and schedule the tasks that need your full attention then. Do routine things, like checking your mail, during non-prime-time hours, after high-priority items are done.
Do not perform an unscheduled task before a scheduled task without prioritizing it first. If you are working on a high-priority item and a medium-priority item is brought to you, let it wait. Often, the so-called urgent things can wait.
