If your Macbook Pro and Mac are running slower than you'd like, watch CBT Nuggets trainer Anthony Sequeira as he presents a bunch of tips for keeping your Mac running as speedily as possible. Learn more with this MicroNugget from CBT Nuggets today.
Anthony has well over a dozen different tips for you to keep your Mac running fast.
For example, thumbnails and application shortcuts that are saved to the desktop have to be individually rendered every time you log in. That means that even the act of saving things to your desktop can have a small effect on your speed. So keep a decluttered desktop.
Another simple trick to keeping your Mac running well is to restart your device. It sounds simple, but restarting can have a drastic impact on memory utilization.
The icons that are displayed in the title bar help indicate the things that are starting when the machine does. Reducing these takes going into Preferences, and Users/Groups, then Login items. Here, choose what’ll get loaded when you start your device.
Don’t forget to uninstall unused applications. Those can do a lot to clog up your memory and system. Use App cleaner to keep only the applications you’re using on your device.
Make sure you have plenty of free space: that keeps the device running quickly. The Mac will write to the device like its RAM, so it’s important to give it plenty of space to do that in.
