In this Excel video tutorial, we gonna see how to use Left, Mid, Right, Len, Find Functions in Excel and how to work RIGHT, MID, LEFT functions with a different number of digits without space or dash or if the Item number has different digits in each item.

What we can do is, work with nested functions, or a function appended to another function, a function inside another function, combine functions in Excel etc.

Each of these functions in Excel serves a specific purpose for manipulating text strings.

LEFT Function, LEFT(text, [num_chars])
Returns a specified number of characters from the start (left) of a text string.

MID Function: MID(text, start_num, num_chars)
Returns a specific number of characters from a text string, starting at the position you specify.

RIGHT Function: RIGHT(text, [num_chars])
Returns a specified number of characters from the end (right) of a text string.

LEN Function: LEN(text)
Returns the length of a text string (the number of characters in the string).

FIND Function: FIND(find_text, within_text, [start_num])
Returns the starting position of one text string within another text string.

Now, let's say you have a cell with the text "Jopa Excel is the best". You want to extract the last Middle name, "Excel". You can use a combination of MID, LEN, and FIND functions.
