In this Excel video lesson Let's learn how to use the filter function in the Excel spreadsheet to help us filter only the values we need to view

In addition to learning how to use the FILTER function in Excel, we will need to use two more functions that are XMATCH and also the function ISNUMBER in Excel.

By the combination of these three functions in the Excel spreadsheet, we will be able to build our filter function and, in this way, be able to view only the information that we filter automatically.

The FILTER function in Excel will return an array, which will spill if it's the final result of a formula and Excel will dynamically create the appropriate sized array range when you press ENTER.

The XMATCH function in Excel can searches for a specified item in an array or range of cells. It returns the item's relative position.

The ISNUMBER function in Excel, can returns TRUE or FALSE. True when a cell contains a number; FALSE, if not. You can also use the ISNUMBER function in Excel to check if a cell contains a numeric value or even if the result of another function is a number.
