The drop-down list in Google Sheets is a really good alternative to use when you need to input data into your data set or into your table into your spreadsheet because it's faster you just need to click in the cell and the list is going to appear automatically for you choose the option that you want to use it's also can prevent errors.

Excel has a drop-down list too so you can apply this knowledge and use it into Excel itself.

There are several different ways to create a list of options in Google Sheets but here we will see two main ways, which is to insert the options in the list manually and the second way is to use an already created range that contains all the options that we will use in the list.

A very interesting feature of the list of options in Google Sheets is that we can choose a specific color for each of the selected options, the first item can be colored red, second the color green, the third the color blue, the fourth the color orange, and so on.

You can use the drop Down list in Google Sheets together with Vlookup or Xlookup to automatically return the value corresponding to the option you selected, this way you can automate your spreadsheet even more.
