The sum if function in Google Sheets can add up values following a certain criteria or condition. Different than the sum function, that is going to sum all the values that you selected or is going to make an addition of all the numbers in the range without any criteria, the sumif formula is going to add up only the values that match with the specified criteria.

In the first example we need to get as result the total sold per item or we need to calculate the total sold per product.

The second examples, we need to get the total quantity sold per month or the total qty by each one of the year's months.
