In this video, you can discover what whole column references are, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using them:
Pros
1. It’s easier to select an entire column than specific range, especially if the range contains blank cells.
2. Any new values added to the column will automatically be included in the formula calculation.
3. Formulas are shorter and easier to read.
Cons
1. Slower Performance – The workbook can be slow to calculate, especially with SUMPRRODUCT and array formulas.
2. Incorrect Results - Formulas can include data above/below the "used range."
Alternatives
1. Excel Tables and structured reference formulas
2. Dynamic named ranges
3. Spill ranges
