Key points from the video include:

Understanding Custom Formatting: Custom formatting is about the visual representation of data in Excel cells. It doesn’t change the actual cell value but alters how it's displayed. I'll show you how to access and apply custom formatting, using a combination of colors, symbols, and formatting codes to visually enhance data.

Formatting Positive and Negative Numbers: The video demonstrates how to use custom formatting to display positive numbers in green with an up arrow and negative numbers in red with a down arrow. This is achieved through specific formatting codes in the custom formatting dialog box.

Order of Formatting: An important concept highlighted is the order of formatting in custom formatting: first for positive numbers, then negative, followed by zero, and lastly text.

Practical Examples: The tutorial walks through practical examples, showing how to use custom formatting to represent data variations. This includes formatting based on thresholds, dynamic values, and multiple conditions.

Using Wildcards and Thresholds: You'll learn how to incorporate wildcards and thresholds in custom formatting for more complex data representation. This includes setting dynamic thresholds based on cell references and using wildcards for partial text matches.

Comparison with Conditional Formatting: The video emphasizes the differences between custom and conditional formatting, advocating for custom formatting due to its simplicity and efficiency.

Interactive Questions: The tutorial addresses viewer questions, providing solutions to specific custom formatting scenarios. This includes dynamic formatting based on average values and setting up multiple conditions within a single formatting rule.
Great thing is, you can have up to 4 different thresholds.

You can even define them in excel cells so they're dynamic. If you change the value in the cell, the custom formatting applied to the cells will be updated accordingly. We'll be using the IF function to assist us wit this.
