Uponor's engineered plastic or EP fittings are manufactured from a high-performance, thermoplastic material and is used in Uponor's exclusive ProPEX fitting system that is compatible with all Uponor EP products. The ProPEX fitting system is a strong, reliable and durable connection method that uses the shape memory of PEX-a tubing to form watertight, leak-resistant connections. This connection needs no torches, glues, solvents or gauges and holds tight with up to 1,000 pounds of force. It also obviously addresses state lead-content initiatives.

EP fittings are just as strong and durable as copper and brass, but offer greater resistance to harsh environments and they are not subject to high price fluctuations like metal alternatives. Additionally, EP is highly durable in cold climates, where CPVC can crack and leak. They also resist high chlorine levels, UV light and they won't pit, scale or corrode.

Dependent on fitting size, EP is made from a family of polymers that have been used successfully in the demanding environments of medical appliance, aerospace and plumbing for many years.

Uponor also backs its EP products with a 25-year limited warranty when used with Uponor AquaPEX tubing and ProPEX fittings and installed by an Uponor-trained contractor.
