In This HVAC Training Video, I Show UP CLOSE How the Thermocouple, Pilot Light, and Gas Valve Work on a Water Heater, Furnace, Fireplace, as well as other Appliances. I Explain the Top 10 Reasons Why the Gas Pilot Light Goes out or Won't Stay Lit. I Show How the Thermocouple Works, Troubleshooting, and Replacement. I go over wind or pressurization blowing the pilot light out. I show what a bad thermocouple looks like. I explain how to light the pilot as well as other problems. I use a multimeter to measure the millivolts on a 30 mv thermocouple. I show the dc milli-volts it takes to hold the solenoid open on a combination gas valve. Supervision is needed by a licensed HVACR Tech while doing this as Experience and Apprenticeship garners Wisdom and Safety.
