Today I'll walk you through the process of rescuing a Samsung Galaxy A71 that's suffered water damage. As soon as such a device arrives at my workshop, the first step is always to disconnect the battery connector. This simple act can prevent further damage by warding off potential short circuits on the motherboard.

Utilizing a plastic pick, I carefully remove the middle casing, always emphasizing the use of non-metallic tools to avoid scratching or damaging internal components. After that, I extract the motherboard for a thorough visual inspection. Sure enough, this device shows clear signs of moisture penetration, but, thankfully, it's not ubiquitous throughout the motherboard.

To further diagnose the extent of the damage, I resort to a microscope. This aids in identifying even the minutest traces of humidity or damage on the motherboard's individual components. Regrettably, I discover a burnt component that demands attention. A hot air station at 220°C helps in stripping off the resin that encases it. Once exposed, I clean the area with isopropyl alcohol, which proves to be an excellent solvent for this task.

As I inspect the FPC connector, I find it's been affected by the water. Undeterred, I forge ahead to test the motherboard's operational integrity using a precision power laboratory supply and a Power Z tool. This tool allows us to monitor the motherboard's power consumption and thereby ascertain its health.

Next, I focus on the burnt screen connector and the charging module. Cleaning these crucial parts involves using a cotton piece doused in contact cleaner, followed by a gentle scrub with a metal brush to remove any oxidized residue.

Despite our best efforts, we find a damaged pad that needs soldering repairs. Applying a bit of flux and going over the damaged pads with a soldering iron at 350°C proves to be the remedy. In this line of work, a good microscope is indispensable, aiding in the precision required for such delicate tasks.

Finally, I decide to check the voltage at the battery connector using a tester. This measurement confirms a good charge on the motherboard connector and the battery, indicating that the device should power up. Yet, without an image on the screen, the device remains inoperative, necessitating a new screen. After getting the client's nod, I install an original Samsung service pack screen.

Finally, the device powers on correctly. I use the Power Z tool again to verify the device's charging parameters, which turn out to be ideal for this model.
