In this repair, we addressed a Samsung S8 Plus not turning on due to a short circuit in the motherboard. Using a thermal camera, we quickly located the short, enabling us to resolve the issue in under five minutes. Two methods can be employed to find the short: a thermal camera or the rosin technique.

At the 0:37 mark, we observed the U900 integrated circuit heating up to 90°C on the thermal camera, indicating the problem. To remove the circuit, we applied 380°C and 40% air flow. Next, we used a de-soldering mesh to eliminate the old solder. To solder the integrated circuit, we applied flux and the same temperature of 380°C, but reduced the air flow to 20%.
A notch on the circuit indicated its exact position, which is typically a small circle in one corner. If unsure about the soldering quality, we can give the circuit small taps; if it returns to its original position, the IC is soldered correctly.
After reassembling the motherboard and testing its functionality, we connected the charger and waited for the device to recognize it. Although the battery was low, we connected the device to a laboratory power source and pressed the power button, successfully turning the device on.
