The device is disassembled quickly, and the back cover is lifted using 90°C heat for 3-4 minutes with a plastic card. A visual inspection reveals no stickers on the screws, indicating previous work. The SIM tray is removed, and the intermediate case is lifted to access the motherboard. Battery and other connectors are then removed.
A thorough visual inspection is crucial to identify areas affected by water. Corrosion is observed at the bottom of the device, but the focus is on recovering the motherboard. A metal plate with moisture signs is removed without heat, and a shield protecting the CPU and memory is lifted using 420°C and 80% air.
A dislodged plastic connector is re-soldered using 300°C and 30% air. Under the microscope, the motherboard is inspected, revealing intact components. The plastic connectors are cleaned using cotton and contact cleaner due to oxidation from the saltwater. A burned capacitor is removed and the tracks are scraped before applying flux and solder paste.
The solder is retouched at 350°C, and another capacitor is removed. When corrosion is present, it is advisable to lift the integrated circuit, apply flux, and solder it again. An antenna is cleaned using contact cleaner and cotton.
After cleaning the motherboard, measurements are taken, revealing a short circuit. A coil is lifted to determine the short circuit location, which is found on the top side, requiring CPU lifting. Flux is applied, and an air station at 380°C and 40% air is used to lift the CPU.
The old tin is replaced with new tin, and the motherboard is cleaned using flux, solder paste, and a 350°C soldering iron. The surface must be leveled to avoid issues when soldering the CPU. Measurements are taken again in diode mode, confirming the short circuit is resolved.
The CPU is re-balled using 183°C solder paste and heated with an air station at 20% airflow and 300-350°C. The CPU is then positioned and heated using 380°C and 30% air. The coil is soldered back using the same temperature and airflow.
An economic microscope is recommended for beginners, upgrading to professional models as earnings increase. The device is reassembled and charged for a few minutes. The mobile shows a good charge, but the screen has stripes and lacks touch functionality. A new screen is tested and works correctly.
In this case, the customer will be charged for the screen replacement and given a discount on the cleaning cost, ensuring a fair price and satisfied customer.
