Florentine is a dialect of the Italian language spoken in Florence and some surrounding areas. belongs to the group of Tuscan dialects. It has evolved from the ‘300’s Tuscan. In this language the poet Dante Alighieri wrote the “Divina Commedia”. From that moment the ‘300’s Tuscan started to be used as a language of the culture in Italy, and Tuscan dialects began to evolve on the one hand, and the Standard Italian on the other.
