Tse süngun/Che süngun
Native to: Chile (Williche people)
Region: Fütawillimapu
Language family: Mapuzugun (Araucanian)
Tse süngun is a branch of the Araucanian language family (Mapudungun). It is spoken in the nation's Los Lagos and Los Ríos regions; and mountain valleys, between the city of Valdivia and south toward the Chiloé Archipelago. Its classification is a matter of controversy since it is considered a dialect of the Mapuche language, but some researchers and also some Williche people see it as a separate language, brother to Mapudungun.
Williche language (Tse süngun) is composed of at least two subvarieties, called Veliche and Chesüngun by their speakers. Veliche is spoken on the island of Chiloé, and Chesüngun is spoken specifically on the coast of Osorno province. Williche language is closely related to Mapudungun, the language of the Mapuche, though more research is needed to determine the degree of mutual intelligibility between the two.
