Philippine Spanish is a dialect/variant of Spanish primarily based on Mexican Spanish, and heavily influenced by Peninsular Spanish and Philippine languages. It also has traces of influence from other Latin American variants of Spanish, Philippine Chinese, and Philippine English.

It is a dwindling variant, natively spoken by an estimated 4k people, mainly in the Metro Manila area and in remote plantations in the Visayas region. The Spanish taught in schools in the country is the Peninsular variant, hence further contributing to the demise of the Philippine variant.

It has greatly influenced the languages of the Philippines and remained an official language until 1973. It is now an auxiliary or "optional and voluntary language."

If you are interested to see your native language/dialect be featured here.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
