The Johari Window Model is an excellent tool to increase self-awareness and for personal development. I use my own example to illustrate the four squares or windows in the Johari model.

The Johari Window model was developed by Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham in 1955. You'll see it still used today in most interpersonal communication classes and other textbooks on relationship development.
