“It always starts with nothing.” I saw the amazing magician David Copperfield say this line just a moment before he made a 10-foot animatronic T-Rex skeleton appear out of a huge empty box.

His statement, “It always starts with nothing,” has been bouncing around my head. I think of all the writers, entrepreneurs, and artists who all started with nothing. A blank page.

Copperfield now does a 500 shows a year. But he started when he was 10 years old doing card tricks for kids in his New Jersey neighborhood.

No matter how far off your dreams might seem today, the people we admire are constantly encouraging us to just start, put one foot in front of the other, and keep moving forward toward our dreams.

As Copperfield reminds us, “It always starts with nothing.”
