Replacing a DLP Chip or DMD Formatter Board can cause alignment issues with your display. Here are some tips to help reduce stress and time during your DLP TV repair!

If your TV has a safety switch, please be sure to tape it in the closed position, so that your TV can power on without the back cover installed.

A Samsung DLP TV typically has a linearity ring on the DMD Board. This piece adjusts the focus of your image. Mark where the tip of the arrow hits the ring prior to disassembly. Matching the arrow with your mark during reassembly will help maintain good image focus.

For Mitsubishi & other DLP TVs that do not have a linearity ring, tape over the edges of the DMD Board and housing. Draw a straight line on each piece of tape, and then cut the tape with a razor blade. Remove the board, making sure not to remove any pieces of tape. When you re-install the DMD board, slowly tighten the screws and adjust the board until the lines on the tape match up!

An off center display can also indicate that the DMD Board is not correctly aligned. For Mitsubishi, locate the slotted screw holes that allow you to manually adjust the alignment of your DMD Board. For Samsung, locate the 3 screws hidden behind the white plastic caps. Loosen these screws ever so slightly, adjust the DMD Board's orientation, and check your display. Please note that slight movements of the DMD Board can have a large effect on the display orientation, and it may take a few tries to get everything just right.

• If the display is too high, move the DMD Board up.
• If the display is too low, move the DMD Board down.
• If the display is too far to the left, move the DMD Board to the left.
• If the display is too far to the right, move the DMD Board to the right.
• If the display is tilted clockwise, shift the DMD clockwise.
• If the display is tilted counter-clockwise, shift the DMD board counter-clockwise.
• If your display appears to be pinched, make sure that the Light Engine is pushed all the way forward and that all screws are tightly secured.
