The Timing Control, or T-Con Board is a part of your TV's LCD Panel Assembly. The T-Con Board is centered on the top or bottom edge of the back of the Panel and hidden under a metal or plastic cover. It is connected to the Main Board via the LVDS Cable, and to the LCD Panel via flat ribbon cables. LG / LG Philips T-Con boards are part-number specific, and do not require matching TV model number, serial number, or panel number in order to confirm compatibility.

If the label found on the back of the panel contains an LG or LG Philips logo, then the TCON board will be manufactured by LG / LG Philips and is identified by using the following part number pattern: 6871L-followed by 4 numbers and 1 letter for a suffix(6871L-####[A-Z]). The 6871L- portion of the part number will never appear anywhere on the T-Con board, but the rest of the part number can be found within a mix of numbers and letters stamped on the board. These stamps vary in location, size, and color.

Look for the line of text that begins with a number or the letter L. Write down the 3 or 4 numbers, and the suffix letter that follows. Should there only be 3 numbers before the suffix letter, you must add a zero in front of the numbers to complete your part number. Write 6871L- in front of these 5 characters, and you have successfully identified the part number for your LG or LG Philips T-Con Board!
