So in this video today we are going to be desoldering components using the Hakko 808 desolder gun. There are a few nice advantages over other methods for removing components. This is all in one so it heats the joint and then removes the solder all at one time. If you are using wick or a pump you have to heat using the solder iron, and then either use the braid or the wick and then if you are using the other device you have to use a pump so you end up needing like 3 hands to make it work. For this it is all in one and really fast. Ok so to desolder the joint, first off I am going to put the nozzle right over the joint I want to remove and let it warm up. I am going to add just a little bit of solder to it and then hit the pump. And there we go we have removed the solder from around that joint. And we continue around and remove all the other joints from the component and then it will just drop right out.
