In this video we will show how to help prolong the life of the LED back lighting in an LED TV.
When LEDs are running at one hundred percent, they are also getting the full voltage from the power source.
When operating at one hundred percent, this can place stress on the LEDs and may cause them to have problems.
One way to help prolong the LEDs life, is to turn down the back lighting in your TV.
This will help to drive the LEDs at a lower voltage and reduce the stress.
Even turning down the back lighting by 10% will help to prolong their life, since they will not be at full voltage.
You can see the difference in back lighting through these images on a blank screen.
Here we have one hundred percent.
Seventy five percent.
Fifty percent.
Twenty five percent.
Typically, you can access the back lighting settings by going into the TV menu, and changing the picture settings.
In this video we are showing the process on a Vizio TV.
I have powered on the TV, and then I will press the menu button, and then click on picture settings, and then scroll down to back lighting, to lower that setting.
You can adjust the back lighting a bit and then go back and check the picture on your screen, and then reduce the back lighting, and then check the picture. You can continue doing this to get the back lighting image lower, while still maintaining a quality image on your screen.
In most TVs, you will be able to adjust not only the back lighting, but you will also be able to adjust the picture setting.
For example if a TV is set to retail or store mode, the back lighting is most likely going to be at one hundred percent.
You can scroll through and see the different settings to see if there are any that have the back lighting lower, which reduces the stress.
You can look for standard mode, or eco mode, those will typically not run the back lights at one hundred percent.
Once again in this video we have shown how to reduce the back lighting to help prolong the life of the LEDs in an LED TV.
