In this video we will show how to replace the LED strips for this Vizio TV. The LED strips that we are replacing, are used in the TV models that we have listed on the screen. However, they may be used in other TV models as well. Be sure to match the important information on our product page when replacing LED strips, to be sure the replacement strips are compatible with the originals.
When replacing LED strips, you will have to remove the panel. Removing the panel can be very difficult. If your TV panel is damaged during the replacement process, you will have to get a replacement TV.
I have already removed the screws and the back cover.
Next, I will disconnect and remove the speakers and the speaker cases from the chassis. This will help to get them out of the way.
While I am doing this, I will also disconnect the IR sensor in the corner.
After removing the speakers, disconnect the ribbon cable on the buffer board.
Remove the screws that hold the bezel to the chassis.
When doing this, you might have some tabs that fall out or break. It is OK, if these do not go back in to the TV, when re-assembling everything.
Release the buffer board from the tabs that secure it.Be very careful as this board is very fragile. Flip the TV over and remove the bezel from the chassis.
Using painters tape or something similar, tape the buffer board to the panel.
Removing the panel is very important, but you must be sure the panel does not flex or bend.
If the panel cracks or breaks, you will need to replace your entire TV.
We recommend using a suction cup to lift and remove the panel. You could also use some thin sheets of plastic or something similar to lift it away.
Using a five in one tool or putty knife or something similar, pry the panel frame from the chassis.
Separate and lift away the layers of diffusion.
You can tape them in the corner to keep them together and in order.
There are some clips that hold the reflector sheet to the panel. They can be released on the board side of the chassis, and then pulled out from the panel side.
Be sure to look underneath the boards if you are unable to locate all of the clips.
Remove the reflector sheet from the chassis.
These original LEDs are taped to the chassis. You can remove the tape or cut the strips free.
Remove the screws that hold the strips to the chassis.
Using the five in one tool, remove the strips from the chassis. Disconnect the cables on the original strips.
Before installing the replacement strips, we will put down some double sided tape to help hold the strips in place.
Align the strips correctly on the chassis.
Reconnect the cables to the strips.
Insert the screws, to secure the strips to the chassis.
Align the reflector sheet on the chassis and reinstall the clips.
Install the layers of diffusion.
Reinstall the panel frame.
Lift the panel back into position.
Release the buffer board and reinstall the bezel.
Slide the buffer board back into the tabs that secure it and reconnect the ribbon cable to the buffer board.
Reinstall the speakers and secure them to the chassis.
Reconnect the speakers to the main board and then reinstall the back cover on the TV.
There you have it, we have replaced the LED strips in this TV.
