How to Add more Possible undo Steps

In this tutorial you will learn how to Add more Possible undo Steps.

By default Photoshop has a limit to how many undo steps it keeps in its memory. Usually it is limited to 50 steps, however, you can of course change the number to make Photoshop keep more steps in its memory. To do so go to Photoshop CC - Preferences - Performance…

Here find the box that says History States and change it to a desired number. Then press OK. Maximum undo steps allowed: 1000 steps.

The change takes effect immediately. There is no need to restart the program.

As this is under the performance section in the preferences of PS, you might have guessed that increasing the number of history states remembered can negatively impact the speed of the application.

Do you undo steps often? Please let us know in comments.
