Seeds for the Future Program

"Seeds for the Future" is Huawei’s Flagship Corporate Social Responsibility program that brings together young talent from top universities around the world. Every year, Huawei brings together young global talents from top universities to explore Huawei’s cutting-edged ICT, experience traditional and modern Chinese culture, and hone their professional development.

Program Objectives:

• The program targets developing the youth’s ICT capacities as well as sharing knowledge and culture through specialized courses that promote knowledge sharing among students across local, regional and international levels.
• It also aims to raise awareness about the technology sector and stimulate the interest of young professionals in technology, in order to help them reshape the future of development using modern technologies.
• Over the course of 8 days, Huawei provides young students with practical training materials in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Cybersecurity and 5G.
• This comes in addition to providing them with appropriate leadership skills training and self-development programs, to enable them to face challenges by promoting team spirit among students from different countries.
• The program also encourages cultural and knowledge exchange activities, including knowledge of Chinese culture and arts.

Facts and Figures on “Seeds for the Future” in Egypt:

• The program was launched in Egypt in 2015. This year (2023) witnesses the 9th edition of the program.
• The program comes in line with Huawei Egypt's strategy to empower youth by developing their skills, building their digital capacities, qualifying them for the labor market’s requirements and fostering a culture of innovation and forward-thinking in young people, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030.

Our success partners:

• The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research: The ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Huawei aims at developing local skills and accelerate digital transformation, as well as promoting innovation / entrepreneurship and achieving sustainable development.

• The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology: One of the most prominent initiatives supported and implemented by the ministry is Digital Egypt Builders Initiative (DEBI). The initiative focuses on capacity-building and achieving the strategy towards building a digital Egypt.

Tech4Good Competition:

• Tech4Good is a competition designed to help young adults learn about the latest trends in digitalization and explore how digital technologies can address common social issues.
• Through Tech4Good, participants boost their creativity, hone their entrepreneurship skills, and develop a sense of social responsibility.
• All this, through fun team effort while being coached by Huawei experts and world-renowned social impact leaders.
• The Tech4Good competition is part of the program that enables students to utilize the ICT skills acquired from the program in order to address today's social challenges.
• This year’s Top 3 teams from Tech4Good will Travel to China for Startup Sprint, $100k startup grant. Up to one year of funding supervision & professional guidance support

Global facts and figures about Seeds for the Future:

• The Seeds for the Future Program was first launched in Thailand in 2008.
• The program was implemented in 137 countries and regions. It involved 12,000 students from more than 500 universities and gained the support of more than 130 heads of state, senior officials and academics.
• The Program is expected to benefit more than 3 million young people; as Huawei aims to invest over US $150 million for the development of digital talents globally.
• As result of COVID-19, the program is currently being offered virtually. Participating students are engaged in an open ecosystem that supports e-learning and cross-border engagement.
• Before the COVID pandemic, students were offered an opportunity to spend two weeks in China to learn about Chinese culture. Currently, alternative programs for online cultural exchange are being provided, taking into consideration the current situation in China.
• 2022 Summary: +3200 participants from 110 countries participated in the program, nearly half of the countries conducted in hybrid mode.
