Ankle arthritis is very common and is associated with ankle sprains, ankle swelling, ankle aching at night, as well as ankle 'giving out'. What is uncommon is the way in which it can be treated and the equipment available now to help in the operating room and give better outcomes.

Just 20 years ago the treatment of choice was to fuse the joint when the arthritis became intolerable. When the arthroscopic equipment became more sophisticated, we can now do more in an out patient surgery than ever before to extend the functionality of the joint.

In this video, Dr Moore features the ConMed shaver and its ability to remove damaged cartilage and subchondral bone. They come in different sizes, but the durability and aggressiveness of their 'gator' series gives the surgeon the ability to remove and correct these problems.
