Your hips are the second-most mobile joint in your body (shoulder is first). They supposed to be strong and mobile so your back and knees can be strong and stable during activity.
Unfortunately many of us don’t move our hips enough, and when we do we don’t regularly take our joints to their end ranges of motion.
The result is the muscles and tendons that support our hip “bind down” and get “tight” - resulting in even less regular motion.
When our hips aren’t moving like they should during normal function, this lack of mobility has to be accounted for somewhere - most often it’s in the knees and lower back and many times the result is pain in these areas.
Luckily, there’s a lot that the right stretches and exercises can do to help increase range of motion in your hips, decrease tightness, and alleviate that pain you might be experiencing.
In this video, I’ll show you 10 of my favorite stretches for your hips to help you feel better fast! I give these stretches regularly to patients who come into my physical therapy clinic and the results are remarkable! I hope they help you to find the relief you’re seeking.
