WHAT IS PIRIFORMIS PAIN?
Your piriformis is a hip muscle that is found deep in your hip underneath your gluteus maximus muscle. It’s a small muscle primarily responsible for rotating your leg at your hip joint.
There are things that can aggravate your piriformis and cause you to experience tightness, soreness, and pain in this area. Some of the most-common aggravating factors include sitting for long periods of time, sitting with poor posture (legs crossed), lower back pain, hip tightness, and hip weakness.
HOW TO TREAT PIRIFORMIS PAIN
The best treatment for piriformis pain involves three steps:
1️⃣ Mobilization - to decrease tension and promote healing
2️⃣ Stretching - to improve motion and decrease pain
3️⃣ Strengthening - to promote healing and improve muscle function
Regularly and consistently performing these three activities has been proven effective in treating piriformis syndrome… and that’s exactly what I wanted to share with you in today’s video!
HOW TO USE THIS VIDEO
Now in full transparency - the most effective treatment for your piriformis condition would be to do one of the mobilizations and then perform ALL the stretches and exercises.
However, if you’re short on time and looking for a short, quick fix - these are a great option!
Pick ONE MOBILIZATION and perform it for 30 seconds
Pick ONE STRETCH and perform it for 30 seconds
Pick ONE EXERCISE and perform it for 30 seconds
Between those three options you should see a decrease in your pain/symptoms; perform them consistently enough for a long enough time and you can eliminate your symptoms altogether!
