In this video named: Rotator Cuff Tear PT Evaluation with Rotator Cuff Special Tests I show you a rotator cuff tear PT evaluation on a patient with a fairly recent rotator cuff tear. Here I demonstrate the following rotator cuff special tests:

+Empty Can Test
-Lift-off Test
-Belly Press Test
-Bear Hug Test
+Hornblower's Test

This patient had a full cervical spine clearing to rule out nerve root compression. Normal DTR's, = sensation, = distal MMT, - Spurling's, - c-spine compression.

Biceps is intact. No palpable tenderness. Neg apprehension sign, neg Speed's test.

Biggest findings: Positive special tests above. Severe weakness with pain for shoulder ER, Flex, ABD.
Other differentials would be shingles, suprascapular nerve injury, adhesive capsulitis.
