In this video I demonstrate how to place a metatarsal pad on an orthotic to help treat metatarsalgia (ball of the foot pain). When I am not using a custom orthotic, I use the @treadlabs2954 and purchase the additional metatarsal pads. Here are some important pointers...
First, find the 2nd, 3rd and 4th distal metatarsal joints.
Choose an appropriately sized metatarsal pad for your foot.
Place the metatarsal pad just behind the metatarsal head where the pain is. NOT on the sore spot!!
I prefer to place the pad under the orthotic as to provide a more gradual bump/drop off for the bottom of the foot.
Having new orthotic and metatarsal pads can be a little uncomfortable at first, so it's not uncommon to take a few days to break them in.
