Popliteus tendon issues are quite common and hard to evaluate.
The popliteus tendon originates at the lateral femoral chondyle and goes inferior and medial to attach at the posterior medial and proximal tibia.
It helps to unlock the knee when in full extension
It also helps with tibial internal rotation
Remember, the hamstrings cross this area and the popliteus also has some fibrous attachment to the lateral meniscus.
