Let’s talk about one of the most common hair loss causes—stress. It’s important to find the deeper root cause of your hair loss, which could be stress related to cortisol.

Cortisol is a stress hormone made by the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands react and adapt to stress. When your body goes through too much stress, it’s very destructive to proteins. It will start breaking down the proteins into sugar to use as fuel. If cortisol is too high, you could have protein loss. If your cortisol is too low, this could also cause hair loss. It’s important to have normal cortisol levels.

It’s normal to lose about 100 hairs a day. If you pull lightly on your hair, you should have less than six hairs fall out. If it’s more than six hairs, you may have high cortisol.

What to do for hair loss:
1. Remove external stress
2. Remove internal stress (massage/acupressure or supplements)
3. Feed your hair the nutrition it needs
4. Increase growth hormone (sleep, intense exercise with a lot of recovery, a good amount of protein, and intermittent fasting)
