In this video, I want to cover what you need to know about goiters.

Conditions that can lead to a goiter:
Hypothyroid:
A hypothyroid condition could come from low iodine.
In this situation, low iodine could be caused by:
• Not consuming enough foods that contain iodine
• Consuming foods or medications that deplete iodine
• A liver problem
• A lack of bile
• High estrogen

Hashimoto’s:
Hashimoto’s is an autoimmune situation that can cause low thyroid hormone and low iodine. This is typically created by a stress-induced autoimmune problem.
In this situation, you may want to take:
• Iodine
• Selenium (200mcg)
• Vitamin A (from animal products)

Grave’s disease:
With Grave’s disease, a person has a hyperthyroid problem. They have too much iodine. In this situation, the person would not need more iodine. They would want to consume foods that decrease iodine.

Things that deplete iodine:
• Thiocyanate
• Sulfer drugs
• Lithium
• Perchlorate
• Yuca
• Soybeans
• Pine nuts
• Strawberries
• Peaches
• Pears
• Bamboo shoots
• Sweet potatoes
• Cruciferous vegetables

Taking pure, organic sea kelp in the morning may be beneficial. But, don’t take this if you have Grave’s disease.
