In this video, we’re going to talk about cheat meals! I’m constantly asked about eating a cheat meal on keto. When you’re first starting keto, and you’re not keto-adapted, it’s best to avoid a cheat meal. It could take you 20 hours or more to get back into ketosis! After a few months, when you’re fully keto-adapted, you’ll be able to bounce back a lot quicker.

Once you start cheating, it’s really hard to stop. Some people cheat for mood elevation, but that can lead to cravings. Nowadays, I feel so good on the keto diet that I don’t need a cheat meal. I know how lousy I’ll feel if I do, and it’s not worth it.

It is important to develop a health reserve so that having a cheat meal on keto won’t really have an impact on your health. If you have a cheat meal in the beginning, it will be difficult to get back into ketosis because you haven’t created your health reserve yet.

If you find it challenging to stick to keto in the beginning, it’s okay to work your way up to one hundred percent keto. Just remember, having a cheat meal early on can prevent you from creating the health reserve that you want.
