In this video, we’re going to talk about the worst and best carbohydrates on keto. Fructose is the worst carb to consume on a ketogenic diet.

Here are some of the most common sources of fructose:
• Table sugar: 50% glucose and 50% fructose
• High fructose corn syrup: 55% fructose and 45% glucose
• Agave nectar: 90% fructose

Fruit contains fructose, but it also contains fiber, phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals. This means that fruit is much healthier than table sugar or high fructose corn syrup, but it can still prevent you from getting into ketosis.

Both glucose and fructose spike insulin in the body. Fructose mainly affects the liver and can cause damage similar to alcohol consumption. Fructose turns into fat in the liver and can result in a fatty liver. This indirectly spikes insulin.

Carbohydrates from leafy greens and vegetables are the best carbs on keto. Vegetables are high in fiber, low in calories, have a low glycemic index, and will not kick you out of ketosis.
