In this video, we’re going to take a look at what causes panic attacks, and what you can do to stop them. Panic attacks occur when a person experiences a sensation of extreme anxiety or extreme fear.

Sometimes, a spike in cortisol or a spike in adrenaline can trigger the adrenals and cause a panic attack. The adrenal glands respond to stress and adapt the body to stressful states.

A lot of the time, people experience panic attacks for no apparent reason. When a panic attack occurs out of the blue, it’s often due to hypoglycemia—also known as low blood sugar.

Hypoglycemia is a side effect of insulin resistance. When you have very high levels of insulin, your blood sugar is constantly being pushed down. If your blood sugar drops too low, it can significantly affect your emotions.

Here are some of the symptoms of low blood sugar:
• Depression
• Weepiness
• Anxiety
• Panic
• Fear
• Anger
• Irritability

If these symptoms subside after eating, it is very likely that they are due to hypoglycemia.

Potassium helps to prevent hypoglycemia, which can help prevent panic attacks from occurring. Vitamin B1 is also beneficial in helping insulin resistance and stabilizing blood sugars.

Following a keto diet and intermittent fasting is a long-term solution to panic attacks. Keto and intermittent fasting address the root cause of panic attacks by improving insulin resistance that causes hypoglycemia in the first place.
