Will eating chili peppers help burn belly fat? Chili peppers are hot, so if I consume them and get hot, the fat will melt off, right? Well, that's not exactly how it works.

Yes, you can melt fat that's in a solid form with heat. But, consuming certain foods that generate more heat will not melt your fat off.

However, there are mice studies related to the active ingredient in chili peppers and weight loss. This ingredient, capsaicin, is typically used topically to reduce pain and inflammation. Capsaicin is anti-cancer, and it's also a very powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

Based on one study related to capsaicin and weight loss:
• There was a significant reduction in abdominal fat, especially posterior fat
• There was a significant improvement in appetite
• It also helped with satiety
• It improves leptin resistance
• There were fewer triglycerides stored in the fat (less of a fatty liver)
• There was an improvement in the microbiome (which can help your blood sugars and make insulin more sensitive)
• There was a suppression of the accumulation of body fat

Keep in mind that if you're on a high-carb diet, eating chili peppers probably won't help with weight loss. However, it may help enhance weight loss a little bit if you're already on a low-carb diet and you're doing intermittent fasting.
