In this video, we’re going to talk about exogenous ketones. Some people take exogenous ketones in the hopes that they will be able to quickly get into ketosis.

Ketosis is a condition where the body turns fat into ketones for energy. Ketosis can be detected by measuring ketones in your urine. There are two ways to get ketones in the urine—by following a ketogenic diet or by taking exogenous ketones.

Exogenous ketones can help you get into ketosis, but they do not help with weight loss. Exogenous ketones bypass your body’s ability to make your own ketones. If you take exogenous ketones, your body will use those ketones as fuel instead of your own.

If you want to lose weight and get into ketosis, the best thing to do is follow a ketogenic diet. Once you’re in ketosis from cutting out carbohydrates, then you will be able to lose weight.
