In this video, we’re going to talk about MCT oil—specifically the different types of fatty acids and their different functions.
What's MCT oil?
MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides) are types of fat that don’t need help from your gallbladder. They can be turned into ketones pretty fast. Medium-chain triglycerides can be extracted from coconut oil or palm oil. MCTs are really good for people starting out in ketosis.
MCT oil benefits:
• Reduce appetite
• Increase brain energy
• Decrease cravings
• Feeds brain/heart
• Doesn’t get stored as fat
Types of MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides):
C6 Caproic -
• Turns to ketones
• Very few available
C8 Caprylic -
• Quick, stable mental energy
• Mental clarity
• Antibacterial (strep, staph)
C10 Capric -
• Powerful anti-fungal (candida)
C12 Lauric -
• Antimicrobial (one of the most powerful)
• Turns into monolaurin (good for measles, herpes, staph, and E. coli)
How to use MCT oil:
Most people take C8 and C10 together. Always start out with a small amount, like maybe 1/2 teaspoon. You can work your way up to a full teaspoon, and then after a few days 1 tablespoon.
