In this video, we’re going to talk about some of the health benefits of hazelnuts. Hazelnuts have more folate than any other nut. Folate, or vitamin B9, is involved in countless metabolic processes and is very important for metabolism and pregnancy.

Folate deficiency can lead to fatigue, irritability, and a lowered immune system. Folic acid is a synthetic version of folate and does not have the same effect on the body as folate.

Hazelnuts also contain the most proanthocyanidin, a phytonutrient that decreases the risk of blood clots and reduces the risk of urinary infection. Proanthocyanidin is 20x more powerful than vitamin C and 50x more powerful than vitamin E.

Hazelnuts are a good source of trace minerals copper and manganese. Manganese plays an important role in activating enzymes involved in collagen production and muscle repair. Copper is also important for the production of collagen.
